Plan Your Trip to the 2024 Honors Ceremony

Join us on September 13th and 14th as we proudly induct ten remarkable individuals into the South Dakota Hall of Fame. These distinguished individuals have been selected for their outstanding contributions to various fields, including arts and entertainment, professional, general, agriculture, education, and business.

The 2024 Honors Ceremony also marks the South Dakota Hall of Fame’s 50th Anniversary, and we are truly humbled to share the legacies of the 792 Inductees who have helped shape the state we are proud to call home.

Our newest class of inductees’ life works have had a major impact on South Dakota and beyond, and we are excited to celebrate their achievements during the 2024 Honors Ceremony.

Visit Dignity Earth and Sky

While you are in the Chamberlain area, find inspiration while visiting Dignity of Earth and Sky, a sculpture on a bluff overlooking the Missouri River. This 50-foot high stainless steel statue was created by South Dakota artist laureate Dale Claude Lamphere, who was inducted into the South Dakota Hall of Fame in 1987. Dignity depicts an Indigenous woman in a Plains-style dress proudly holding a star quilt which catches the morning light in a stunning display.

Explore the Chamberlain/Oacoma Area

There are many ways to enjoy the area. Located at the crossing of Interstate 90 and the Missouri River, Chamberlain and Oacoma have provided services and rest to travelers for generations. Al’s Oasis, for instance, is a historic rest area that has one of the best restaurants in the state. But the area is more than just a rest stop–offering breathtaking outdoor spaces, and outdoor recreation opportunities, to cultural centers, restaurants, and more.
