Be Part of the Nicholas Black Elk Exhibit

Dear Dream Chaser,

We know that you value and believe in the mission of the South Dakota Hall of Fame. We wouldn’t be where we are without the support of you and so many others who seek to help us champion a Culture of Excellence, and inspire the youth across South Dakota.

We have the opportunity to expand an exhibit of a Dream Chaser who has changed the world with his teachings.

Nicholas Black Elk, a great Lakota and Catholic spiritual healer, is a revered figure who has inspired many across the globe with his teachings. He was inducted into the South Dakota Hall of Fame in 2018 for his unique efforts to bridge cultures through his spiritual teachings. The story of Nicholas Black Elk is an important story for all generations, and particularly for the youth. He has inspired so many by demonstrating a bridging of cultures through seasons, nature, and relationships that make up each day of our lives.

“This center which is here, but which we know is really everywhere, is Wakan-Tanka.” —Nicholas Black Elk

What changes are we making, and how will your donation help?

The South Dakota Hall of Fame has the opportunity to acquire two priceless artifacts that belonged to Nicholas Black Elk, and greatly increase our impact to share his story with a wide audience. With your help, we have the potential to bring two priceless possessions– Nicholas Black Elk’s bow and arrows– to expand his exhibit at the Visitor & Education Center.

Not only do we have the chance to share with so many across South Dakota these priceless possessions, but upon loan of the bow and arrows, we hope to partner with the Smithsonian Institute to share Nicholas Black Elk’s story like it never has been before.

Nicholas Black Elk’s story is a story of excellence, of believing in one’s dreams, and of the impact one person can have on so many. And we would be honored to have your help in sharing his story, and championing a Culture of Excellence.
